Metro Appoints Charles Spencer as New Head of Health & Safety

Metro Safety are pleased to welcome Charles Spencer as new Head of Health and Safety Services. Charles will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of Metro’s Health and Safety services and further developing the Health and Safety area of the business.

Charles brings with him a wealth of experience. Beginning his career in Environmental Health in 2005 and eventually becoming a fully qualified Environmental Health Practitioner he has held several senior health and safety consultancy positions including Principal Consultant at WorkNest and as a Senior Account Manager for NSF. 

He has worked with a diverse range of clients and sectors, including retail, hospitality and health care, ensuring compliance but also providing workable and sustainable solutions in food safety, health and safety and fire safety. In 2020, Charles led the WorkNest’s Health and Safety Teams Covid Compliance which supported 35,000 clients throughout the pandemic. 

Charles is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner (CMIOSH), demonstrating a commitment to professional excellence and ethical practice. Charles is also a Tier 2 Fire Risk Assessor and is certified by the Institute of Fire Safety Managers. 

He also represents the CIEH at the British Standards Institute using his knowledge and experience to contribute to the development of both national and international standards.
