Asbestos Sampling & Analysis

Sampling and analysis may be required to determine the presence of asbestos. This is usually carried out in order to comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The regulations also require identification of the type of asbestos. The type and condition of any asbestos present will shape any further actions that are required.

Samples should only be taken by a competent trained person. Analysis must only be carried out by a company accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) as being competent to perform the work in compliance with ISO17025.

Efficient Asbestos Sampling Service

We are able to undertake sampling and analysis either as part of survey or as a stand alone service when materials suspected to contain asbestos are identified. We can attend site in order to take samples of the suspected materials and then arrange for analysis to confirm whether asbestos is present or not.

Samples are taken to a UKAS accredited laboratory where they are subjected to thorough analysis to identify and isolate suspicious fibres. These fibres are then analysed using a high power polarising microscope to determine the presence of any asbestos and to identify the type of fibres.

All our sampling is carried out in accordance with HSE guidance HSG 248.
