Safety Checks - Cladding on Private Residential Blocks

Cladding title2

Following the tragic Grenfell Tower fire the Department for Communities and Local Government wish to ensure that owners, landlords and managers of private residential blocks are aware of the help that is available regarding safety checks on Aluminium Composite Material Cladding (ACM).

Local authority and housing associations that are registered social housing providers have been contacted directly to instigate this program; however there are a number of private sector residential blocks that fall under the DCLG criteria for further inspection.

Buildings over 6 storeys or 18m high have been made a priority. Testing for residential buildings which fit the required criteria will be paid for by DCLG.

The Government has published an explanatory note which explains the checking and testing programme that has been set up and is now underway, and the wider steps that are being taken to ensure safety in all relevant buildings, in the light of the early test results.
